For its ninth edition, Berlin Buzzwords is back at Kulturbrauerei! With tech talks, workshops and meetups we invite you to take a deep dive into everything about searching, scaling, streaming and storing of large amounts of digital data.
BARCAMP
The conference kicks off with a barcamp on June 10, hosted by Nick Burch. Registration opens at 3 pm at Palais in the Kulturbrauerei, the barcamp takes place from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm Palais Atelier. Discuss the latest trends and propose your adhoc talk at the barcamp. If you want to have a drink and continue your conversations after the barcamp, we invite you to come with us to the Dirty Velvet Drinkery! CONFERENCE PROGRAM
Our conference program, selected by our amazing Program Committee, takes place on four stages all located within the Kulturbrauerei: Kesselhaus, Maschinenhaus, Palais Atelier and Moon Lounge, with keynotes being held in the Kino.
Both conference days start with keynotes, followed by the regular program, from 11 am to 6 pm. You can find the full conference schedule here.

KEYNOTES
The program starts on Monday, June 11th with a keynote "Blockchain in Wildlife - Use Cases in the Field" by Marta Piekarska at 9:45 am at Kino. Marta serves as the Director of Ecosystem at Hyperledger. Prior to Hyperledger, she worked as a Security Architect at Blockstream. Marta obtained her BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology and a double Masters in Computer Science and Informatics at Technical University of Berlin and Warsaw University of Technology. The second conference day (June 12th) kicks off with a keynote "Technical Consequences of the Data Subject's Rights" by Aurélie Pols at 9:30 am at Kino. Aurélie Pols designs Data Privacy best practices: documenting data flows in order to limit Privacy backlashes, minimising risk related to ever increasing data uses while solving for data quality. The most accurate label today would probably be “Privacy Engineer”. Read more about her session here.
MICES & #FOSSBack
The day after Berlin Buzzwords “MICES - Mix-Camp E-Commerce Search” takes place. It’s a one day event on E-Commerce Search. The goal of the event is to bring together participants from different backgrounds (IT, product managers, UX designers, search managers, information retrieval specialists, search technology vendors, and more) to discuss challenges, ideas, best practices and case studies in the e-commerce search domain. On June 13th and 14th FOSS Backstage will provide a new platform to discuss everything related to governance, collaboration, legal and economics within the scope of FOSS. The conference is taking place for the first time and is organised by newthinking communications GmbH and was founded by Isabel Drost-Fromm (Open Source Strategist at Europace AG and Berlin Buzzwords co-founder) and Stefan Rudnitzki (Lead Developer at Europace AG).
